Thank You Javier!

Dear Everybody,

Today is the last day of work on camp for Javier.  He has been with us for over a week now working alongside Miguel.  He is from Pitrufquen but attends church in Villarrica (1/2 hour from camp).  We got to know him when the Villarrica church came to camp for their yearly retreat.  These past couple years he has worked as part of our staff during our summer camps.  We are thankful for all the hard work he did this past week.

The main project we worked on this past week has been the caretaker's house.  Lord willing we have a young couple coming in October to take our camp director training course.  Their family will live next door to us in the caretaker's IF we can get the house liveable.  It started off years ago as camp bedrooms for speakers with a bathroom added on.  Then when there was a need for a house for the caretaker and his family, it was transformed into a house by closing in a front porch and adding on another bedroom and kitchen.  There is lots of work to do before October.

We started by tearing out the old, bug infested, pine tongue and groove paneling on the interior walls to get down to the studs. We also removed the drop ceiling.  None of the house has insulation so we used the styrofoam from the drop ceiling for the insulation in the walls.  All the electrical and plumbing in the house needs redone also.  It's been a fun project to see this structure taking form little by little.
